Are babies racist?

CNN reports that babies prefer "helpful" friends to "bad" ones:

Even infants can tell the difference between naughty and nice playmates, and know which to choose, a new study finds.

Babies as young as 6 to 10 months old showed crucial social judging skills before they could talk, according to a study by researchers at Yale University's Infant Cognition Center published in Thursday's journal Nature.

The infants watched a googly eyed wooden toy trying to climb roller-coaster hills and then another googly eyed toy come by and either help it over the mountain or push it backward. They then were presented with the toys to see which they would play with.

Nearly every baby picked the helpful toy over the bad one.

The babies also chose neutral toys -- ones that didn't help or hinder -- over the naughty ones. And the babies chose the helping toys over the neutral ones.

Which, of course, begs the question: Are babies racist against mean people?

The ever-vigilant Ms. AB submits the following:

is it racist or simply panverse?

i submit disney's "it's a small world" ride which has animatronics
that look suspiciously like "native riding a donkey."

and if you go to disney world, why is the "it's a small world" ride
in "fantasyland"?

[the splinter]

can we please start ANOTHER splinter blog in which we invent bullsh*t words like "chronologicalism" and use them in classes? Then we will inevitably get the words back on exams...that will be considered the success. We will scan the exams and circle the sentences refering to said words.

I think we could ultimately incorporate these terms into the already grotesque academic lexicon. The grand prize goes to anyone that gets another academic to use the term. I will use chronologicalism in class sometime this week.

I will also make up a new word - I don't know what it means - some kind of new and improved PC version of diversity. We can say that the use of "diversity" became problematic because it refered to a dialogical system that reenforced patriarchal binaries or some shit like that.

This could be brilliant. This could actually make us famous because academia is so moronic.

Racist or felinist or both?

This is so Home Goods.

Students are racist...

From my now-epic second midterm.

When asked to characterize the treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII, one student wrote:

"The Japanese Americans gave up the American part to be the Japanese part. Although they didn't want to be 'Benedick Arnolds.'" (the quotes around B.A. are, naturally, my favorite part).

Laugh, cry, or gag?

Can Aryans be victims?

This dude, Richard Armitage (former Bush State Department guy), was just on Charlie Rose and he accused Iranians of being "the most ethnocentric people in the world." Oh....snap!

I feel like that was racist...BUT Iranians are white. Thoughts?

Zoom Zoom Zoom.

Is Mazda's new TV spot, which appears to appropriate the American civil rights demonstration to the purpose of selling SUVs, racist or just ethically reprehensible?
